signing a contract
I am a subcontractor working for a uniform co. I travel all over the u.s. They have asked us to sign contracts..some items are not paying anything if we are hurt on the job. (Indemnification). Injunctive Relief, No Compete clause…but as a independant sub contractor we are told if we don’t sign we will no longer work for them. Just wondering what your thoughts are on this. I have signed no prior contract.

County Government Personal Services Agreement
I have been selected to perform a personal services contract by a New Mexico county at a fixed price. The county manager has provided a VERY one sided contract; e.g., unlimited – time and dollars – indemnification of the county. It was apparently redacted from a standard form contract.

Rather than negotiate changes item by item, (the cost would be prohibitive given the value of the work specified), is there a standard form contract in use by New Mexico Counties under the personal service statutes? If so, how can a obtain a copy.

While this initial engagement with county government does not justify retention of counsel, I am relocating to central New Mexico, intend to build a consulting practice and am interested in establishing an on-going relationship with an attorney or firm.

Thanks in advance.

Can I lose my job?

Can I lose my job?
I am currently employed by a government agency. I was contacted by the employer in reference to a rental form that was provided to my landlord that was not completed by my employing agency with the correct information. The payroll person gave out my information in regards to my income without first contacting me for a signed release to the landlord. Now my employer is trying to have me fired can they do this?
