landlord-tenant dispute
My wife signed a 1 year rental lease. The owner let her move in without a deposit. A few months later he demanded the deposit or he was going to kick her out, so she moved out, now a month later he is demanding $7,000 in damages for carpet and paint. She is in the military, so he contacted her chain of command demanding them to order her to pay or he would sue for breach of contract and the amount of the rent for the lease. My wife is now being threatened by her superiors to pay him, what would be the best course of action?? Please help….im in iraq and i cant help her……
