terminating a lease agreement
Can a lease be broken if you decide to purchase a home? Do you still have to pay rent for the term of the lease if you are evicted?

No, purchasing a home is not a valid excuse for breaking a lease. If you’re evicted due to breaches of the lease alleged by the landlord,
he or she will normally ask the court not only for a writ of possession and the eviction of the tenant but also a judgment for all damages which can be reasonably connected to the tenant’s ouster and thereby chargeable to the tenant, which could well include damages for whatever remains to be paid by the tenant under the term of the lease minus whatever the court feels the landlord should be able to mitigate by reletting the unit as soon as is reasonable under the circumstances.
