Termination of Tenancy Rights
Does a landlord in the City of Los Angeles have the right to terminate tenancy based on the end of the–name removed–s one year lease for no specific reason? If so, can the–name removed–refute the landlord’s request for termination of tenancy and request to go month to month?

Yes, a one year lease terminates at the end of one year. You cannot compel the landlord to continue the lease on a month to month basis unless a local ordinance says so, which I doubt.
