moving into an apartment after previous tenant has broken her lease
I have just moved into an apartment after the previous tenant has broken her lease agreement. She moved out on the 17th of June. I moved in on the 18th of June, as the property manager gave me a key to the place and said that I could move in as soon as I wanted to, since it was paid up through the month, and she had broken her lease. The property management company had me sign the lease starting July 1st. The former tenant is trying to hold me responsible for the rent on the unit from June 18th to July 1st, payable to her. Isn’t it the responsibility of the property management company, since they let me move in early?

Tenant Death my father lived/rented a condiminium for over 10 years.

Tenant Death
my father lived/rented a condiminium for over 10 years. He was a great tenant. about two years ago I subleased a room from him. the landlord new about this and i signed a month to month lease agreement. i gave a 500 dollar deposit on top of my fathers 1000 dollar deposit. I moved out in november, gave both my dad and the landlord notice. this was five months ago. i never gave written notice, but the landlord knew i was leaving. february first my father found a new roomate, drew up new lease papers with him, he moved in and on february 6th my father died. i have been moving out all of my fathers things, but wanted extra time to move everything out, the landlord agreed to keep some appliances totalling 500 in order to give us march to move his stuff out. plus the new roomate needed time to find another place as well. my father had already paid feb. rent. the landlord is now claiming that he is keeping the deposits, and that i need to replace the 20 year old linoleum, pull up the carpets, clean, paint, windows, everything, and he is going to keep the deposit.is he able to do this

Illegal Sublease Agreement?

Illegal Sublease Agreement?
I signed an agreement where I promised to pay rent for one month for an apartment as a sublessor. The main part of the agreement is as follows:
•Sublessee shall pay directly to Sublessor(s) $508.75 per month at the place and time provided in the original Lease and ANY UTILITY BILLS during the time of occupation.
•Sublessee agrees to abide by all the obligations and responsibilities in the original Lease, a copy of which is attached and made part of this agreement.

No copy of the original elase was provided, but I have read it now and discovered that it contains a clause expressly forbidding subleasing with no exceptions. Am I legally bound to pay the monthly fee to my sublessor, or am I released since the elase itself forbids subletting?
