sexual harassment by landlord
In your reply to my former question, you stated that my basis to file a claim for sexual harassment depends on part whether my landlord is a bonified owner or manager of the business I work for. He is not, but he is part owner of the building the company I work for rents. In my opinion, my landlord has no business which would bring him over here so often, but he comes into the office where I’m working and follows me out on the shop floor. I feel like he believes he has the power to ”make” me talk to/be nice to him. It feels as though he’s forcing himself on me, not physically, but mentally and emotionally. He is aware I can’t afford to just move out; it seems from what he said to my boss that it’s either be nice to him and he’ll rent to me, or not be nice and he won’t rent to me. I rent on a month to month basis, with signed lease, and no arrears in rent. I have ulcerative colitis, have had it for many years, but with much time in remission. Just dealing with him has caused my ulcers to begin bleeding again. I need some advice, or alternatives to simply living in my car. What can I do?

can landlord require me to sign a new lease?

can landlord require me to sign a new lease?
Hello,

My landlord would like me to sign another year lease but I prefer to go month to month. On April 1, I will have fulfilled the year lease. I also had a previous lease with this landlord on the same unit, and have lived here a total of 4 years.

My current lease states under ”Notice of Termination”: ”Upon 30 days’ notice before the contract end date or thereafter, for good cause, Tenant or Landlord may terminate this lease.”

It also states, under ”Holdovers”: ”If Tenant holds over on termination of this lease and Landlord accepts Tenant’s tender of the rent provided by this lease, this lease shall continue to be binding on the parties as a rental period to rental period agreement.”

It also states: ”No changes, additions or subtractions from conditions of this agreement shall take effect unless mutually agreed upon in writing.”

He also raised the rent, which I assume he is able to do without me signing a new lease. Thanks.

damage to property, disclosure of cancer diagnosis and weeks later eviction
About a month ago the landlord of the building next door to the building I rent in cut down his trees and destroyed my garden and numerous personal belongings. My landlord whom I have not spoken to in almost a year, discussed in detail his liability in cleaning up and replacing my belonings. During this time I also disclosed to her that since seeing her last I had been diagnosed with cancer and had recently finished chemotherapy, daily radiation and numerous surgeries, leaving me with nerve damage and unable to walk well. She continually said how sorry she was to here of my illness and now to have to deal with all the damage in my yard. She told me she spoke to the guy next door who cut down the trees and to make an inventory of destroyed property and she deliver it to him for reinbursment. She also said she would have someone clean up all the broken furniture and mess left behind. I have called her and left message and she has not returned my calls, sent anyone to clean up or picked up the invintory list. Then, two days ago I received an eviction letter. I have been living here for over five years, and after the first year, never had a lease so I guess I am month to month. I am 37 years old, live alone and can’t walk well

guest priveleges I am 24 yrs.

guest priveleges
I am 24 yrs. old and rent a room in a private home in New Jersey. There is no written lease; I pay month to month. My landlord will not allow me to have any guests, male or female, at any time of day. I find this rule to be extremely unreasonable and have told the landlord as much. The landlord’s reply was that because it is her private home and we share a front door, the landlord will not ever allow a guest (esp. one of the opposite sex). Isn’t it my right to have the occasional guest, especially if we are not being bothersome?
