Rental Lease Agreement
I have a lease with a roomate and it’s up in February, I am moving to Texas at the end of the month to go to school. My name is on the electric bill and my roomate’s name is on the cable/phone/internet, we have verbally agreed to pay half of each bill. I have been paying all of the electric bill and the cable/phone/internet since the lease began in February because my roomate was on unemployment. They recently got a job and still have not made any attempts to help pay. I have agreed to pay my half of the rent even if I move out which I think is the right thing to do. My roomate does not want me to find another roomate to take over my half of the rent even though my rental company told me that I could do that as long as they met requirements to move in. My roomate is threatening to sue me for the bills. Am I obligated to still pay the electric bill and cable/internet/phone even if I am not living there using those ammenities? I realize that being on a lease I am responsible for my part of the rent for the remainder of the lease.

If a house rental lease has multiple pages and only the first page is signed by both parties, are the covenants on the pages following the signed page legally binding?
Caveat: The signed page does not specify how many pages there are to the lease agreement.

Landlord will not refund security deposit
I was renting a house in Nevada. The landlord/owner informed me that at the end of my lease she was going to sell the house and would not be renewing the lease. My lease had about 5 months to go to termination. I discussed moving out early with the landlord so she could sell the property sooner. We agreed that if I was able to find some place to move, I could move sooner than September, when the lease was up. Also I agreed to allow the house to be shown to perspective buyers while I was still living there and the landlord agreed to pay me $250 for showing the house. We also agreed that when I moved out, we would do a final walkthrough and that my security deposit plus $250 would be refunded at that time. I found a place and moved out leaving the property much cleaner than when I moved into it. However, the landlord has stated that since she hasn’t sold the house yet, she would not be refunding my deposits for 30 days. She also is demmanding the keys and garage door openers back. It is my contention that since we had a verbal binding contract outside of the normal lease agreement, that the landlord must refund my deposits now. The landlord is refusing. What are my rights?

roommate unpaid rent civil suit
I had been living in an apartment with 2 other roommates from August 07 – December 07. The lease was signed for 1 year which means from August 07 – July 08. However, when we signed the lease I had made–name removed–verbal agreement with my 2 other roommates that I wouldn’t be staying in the apartment from Jan 08 – July 08, and therefore I wouldn’t be paying the rent for those months. We had verbally agreed that they would split the rent between the 2 people that are actually living in the apartment for the months from Jan 08 – July 08. The landlord has been getting his full rent payments for all of the months. However, the 2 roommates want to take me to court to collect on what they claim are rent payments they have been paying for me, even though we had agreed last year that they would split the rent between the 2 people that are living there.
So, what I would like to know is what they can legally do to me?
My name including the two roommates’ names are on the lease. However, the landlord has nothing to do with the suit because he has been receiving his full rent payments.
How can my roommate sue me because the lease agreement is between the tenants and the landlord.
