My landlord just told me he wants out of our lease agreement because I paid late this month because of a hospital stay and when I signed the lease he said no smoking in apt which I have respected even though it is not in the lease. He said because he smelled cigarettes in my car he can only assume I do it in the apt and I needed to be out by the 13th which gives me less than a week. I am not a problem tenant paid rent always on time even early on two occassions I have a 2 year lease and have done 9 months of it what are my rights I paid first and deposit but not last so technically the 13th is the day my rent is due again

I own a house and rent out rooms in the house. Recently, I signed a lease with a guy I know through a friend and I trusted him. Now the first check he gave me for security deposit and first month’s rent has bounced He has not moved in yet. Can I legally break the lease agreement with no threat on my end?

I signed a lease agreement with my husband when we were still married. He moved out, then, we divorced.THe house is only in his name. He has since sent cruel texts, and has sent texts to my 13 yr old daughter (not hisdaughter) and pics of his new girlfriend. He also asks her who I am seeing. He has also sent my mother a letter, and me as well. Can I break my lease due to this? My 3 children are terrified of him, and live in fear that he will return.

This is a very complicated case. My wife and I moved from one state to another and thought that we were on a lease with someone else. Well come to find out we were 6 days late on our rent and the land lord gave us an eviction notice and a no trespassing notice all int the same day. They would not allow us to pick up our belongings from the house. This went on for 2 weeks before we finally got our stuff back. We singed in on a lease with another couple, but being that we didn’t sign on the back and on the bottom, we technically didn’t have a lease agreement with them. Once the Land lord realized what had happened, he tried to throw it off as us ”subletting” with the couple that was primary on the lease. Here’s the kicker, in the lease it plainly states that there is to be no subletting of the property. What kind of advice could you possibly give me to get back the 2 weeks that my family and I were out on the street without anything at all to our possession. If I were to take them to court, what could I do to stop this man from doing this to someone else’s family. Thank you in advance!!
