My son and his girlfriend signed a lease 8/2/07 to move to an apt. 8/18/07. His girlfriend has broken their relationship and my son cannot afford rent without her income. What can be done to break or rescind the lease agreement?

As a point of reference, this individual is not released from the lease obiligation just because she choose to vacate and she is also partly responsible for a replacement in order to be released from this obligation. However, I also recommend that you explain the situation with your landlord.

WOuld need to see lease language to fully advise, but best strategy might be to approach LL directly and offer to help rent unit by paying for SIGN, AD on Internet etc.
Alternative: FInd a ROOMMATE fast.
