legal transfer Can a person be quit claim deeded onto title without knowing?

legal transfer
Can a person be quit claim deeded onto title without knowing? And then some years later the property be sold – still without them knowing until they receive their tranfer tax bill from the state of Maine? The disbursment check made payable to me, from settlement, was forged. I never would have known I was an owner, then the seller – had it not been for the tax bill I received. Does this sound legal?

  1. Re: legal transfer
It is unusual but theoretically possible for someone to be the grantee of property and not be immediately aware of it, however, it is not possible unless fraud is present, to have real estate transferred without the knowledge, signature and consent of the grantor.

Your situation sounds interesting and I would be happy to consult further if you wish to contact me, but it is unclear from your question if you have any further legal concerns.
