I had a 1 year lease for the house I am renting, but it expired 6 months ago, and we did not sign a new agreement. Are we legally still bound to the original contract or does it automatically go to month to month?

It depends on what the lease says, but generally it converts to a month-to-month term, but you are generally still bound by all of the other terms of the lease.
