expired leases The apt.

expired leases
The apt. complex where I have resided or 6 years let quite a few leases expire (including mine) a couple of years ago. I received a letter from the current manager dated April 9 stating that it should be considered my ”60 day notice” to sign another lease or I would be considered a ”month to month” renter. I am in the process of finding a house to buy. Since the 60 days are not up until June 8th, could I pay my regular rent on 6/1 and sign the lease on 6/7 if I have not found a house by then?

  1. Re: expired leases
You should pay the prorated rent for the 8 days of June since the new lease will in all probability be at a different rental rate (and possibly a different apartment). If you pay for the entire month of June, you may have to deal with trying to get a refund for the rest of the month, which may be difficult and time-consuming. If you decide to sign a new lease, they will gladly accept an additional rent payment.
