how to cancel a general power of attorney
we are three sisters we jointly given a general power of attorney to a relative for a certain property ….in 1994 ..now we want to cancel it ….but out we three sisters two were out of country and they are unable to come india back but we are urgently required to cancel general power of attorney give me some suggestion but i am alone in india is there any way to cancel it urgently….

you can cancel the power of attorny by giving notice to the power of attorney holder as well as giving a public notice of teh same.
you have to initamate teh subregistrar of teh cancellation of power of attornery . same can be done by your sisters also

Registered General Power of Attorney can be cancelled only through registered document such as Revocation of General Power of Attorney. Public Notice is extra measures which may be taken by giving notice in daily newspapers. But you all sisters have to execute Revocation Deed.

I will send you draft of Revocation Deed which you will, after amendments, send to your sisters in abroad, who will execute them before Indian Ambassador/High Commission. Upon the receipt of executed Deed, you will be required to appoint a Lawyer as Local Commissioner through Sub-Registrar where the General Power of Attorney was registered, who will get the remaining part of Revocation executed by you. Then the same will be registered and the power will be annulled.
I will send you application for the appointment of Local Commission.

the sisters who are abroad, may send a power of attorney in your favour granting you rights to cancel their power of attorney. their power of attorney needs to be attested by the notary public there. then you yourself would be empowered to execute the cancellation deed.

Yes, you can cancel the attorney immediately by (a) writing to the attorney; and (b) giving a public notice.
Your sisters can also issue a public notice even from abroad; they do not have to be present.
all of you may also write the authorities, where property is situated, not to recognise the attorney for any transaction.
if the power of attorney was registered, you may also inform the registration about your decision of having cancelled the attorney.
