Moving out.

Moving out…30 day notice on month to month?
I am moving out of my apartment where I have lived for about six years. I am on a month to month lease, and the landlord is not holding a deposit as it was not required when I moved in. My current manager says I need to give them 30 days notice to move out, but what happens if I move out before my next rent payment is due and I don’t pay? I had to pay the first month on my new apartment and really can’t afford another month at my old place. Again, the landlord does NOT have a deposit to withhold.

Thanks!

The landlord could choose to sue you in small claims court for damages you cause, or the rent between the time you leave and the time the landlord finds a new tenant, or both.
