NH eviction Laws
Because I was a few months late on paying off my rent, my landlord has decided to evict me a week before the lease is up. Now he gave me a notice to quit AND an eviction notice in the same day, but he has not involved to county sheriff or the courts in the eviction. Is it legal for him to do that? Can he legally evict me without any notices either from the sheriff or delivered by a sheriff?

A demand for rent and a notice to quite may be served by anyone over the age of 18. The Writ of Summons must be served by the sheriff’s department.

Evictions are governed by strict rules. It would likely be to your benefit to meet with an attorney who could review all the facts and circumstances.
