How can I get my deposit, my roommate is a nuisance
I have been renting a house with a friend for a year. Month to month lease, both of our names are on it. Lately, her behavior and activities have become unnacceptable. No cleaning, allows her friends access to the house at all hours of the night, noise level very high in the middle of the night. Excessive visitors. Rude and disrespectful. I also suspect illegal activity. I want to move, but I don’t want to lose the security deposit. I paid the majority of the deposit. How can I get my deposit when I move, or have her evicted from the property and removed from the lease? If I move, does a new lease need to be made since my name is on the original lease? Please help, I don’t know what to do.

Hi. I had a quick question. We verbally agreed to allow friends of the family to rent our rental property. They have moved their furniture in, but no lease has been signed yet as they left town for a few days. We recently found out that the boyfriend who will be living there is kind of a troublemaker and is always suing people and stuff.

We would like to not have them live there at all, but this boyfriend says that because of the verbal agreement there is no way he is leaving. The woman is very responsible and we have no doubt she will pay rent, however we are VERY concerned about this boyfriend. Since he is threatening with the verbal agreement we are planning on doing month to month lease with this couple, and hopefully ask them to leave when 2-3 months are up so that they have enough time to look for somewhere else to live. My question is, is it better to have this guy sign the lease along with the woman? OR is it better to just have HER on the lease? We just dont want to get tricked by this weasel, and we want to make sure our bases our covered. Any ideas would be so appreciated

Roomate doesn’t pay rent
In June I signed a month to month lease on an appartment. At the time my roomate was supposed to sign the lease as well (he had been the roomate to the prevoius tenant) but could not come up with his half the money. The landlord allowed me to sign the lease only and said my roommate could stay, but not be on the lease, and it was my problem to deal with if he did not pay. Every month he has paid his rent short and late, not paid any bills, and not ever given a security depost. He owes me $1010, and septmebers upcoming rent and bills. I do not need him to pay the rent, but was trying to help him out. Last week he got in a fight with my boyfriend the police were called, he took off. I told them I was going to ask him to leave and so we would not be pressing charges. I asked him to leave, but he is making no effort to find another place. My kids are scared of him becuase he beat up their dad. And I want him to leave becuase I have been paying all the rent and bills every month and want the extra room his is taking up. I asked him in writing to leave in two weeks. If he does not leave, how can I get him out? What are the legal step I shoudl take. Can I remove his belongings from the apartment?
