Relocation fee
I am going to be paid a relocation fee b/c my apt is being turned into a condo–i am on month to month. My original lease has my name on it as well as my old roomate. He has not lived in the apt for 4 years and we never signed a new lease–and his name was never taken off. The landlord just called to ask if he still lived there…will I still get the full relocation fee or will they write 2 checks? What are the laws about a lease with 2 names on it if one person has moved out of the state?

Security Deposit for Rented Property
My Landlord just informed me they will need my property back because they will need to move back into it due to ”the bad housing market”. Reading between the lines I believe they are in financial trouble and my be losing thier primary residence to forecloseuer. My question is; my security deposit is a little more than a months rent. The lease (which expired 10/07 and converted to a month to month) says that the security deposit cannot be used for the last months rent. I am concerned that they may not be able to refund the deposit as they may have used it to cover their own expenses. They have been in my property as recently as the last couple of weeks and know the property is in the same or better condition than when I rented it. I have found another residence and will be out by the end of next month. I want to use my deposit for my last month. What proplems can I expect if I do this. I fear this is the only way I can recover most of my money. My deposit is $3400 and my rent is $2900. I would rather lose $500 than the entire $3400. Please advise.

Change of Rent
We finished our lease in Feb and due to the economy we requested lower rent. The landlord approved it orally.
We’ve been paying the new reduced rent for 3 months without any question. Now we decided to move and gave the landlord 30day notice. After 2 weeks, she gave us 3day Notice of Rent pay or Quit Notice. Asking us to pay the difference of reduced rent for last couple months. There was no new lease so we considered the new rent was month to month.
As a fact we forgot to get a writing approval from her when she approved our reduced rent. But why she accepted the rent for 3 months and now she dare say never proved it.
What are we gonna do? pay for the rent difference or seek lawful advice?

Moving out…30 day notice on month to month?
I am moving out of my apartment where I have lived for about six years. I am on a month to month lease, and the landlord is not holding a deposit as it was not required when I moved in. My current manager says I need to give them 30 days notice to move out, but what happens if I move out before my next rent payment is due and I don’t pay? I had to pay the first month on my new apartment and really can’t afford another month at my old place. Again, the landlord does NOT have a deposit to withhold.
Thanks!
