Eviction efforts from the bank
My elderly aunt had a lease agreement with her son, who was the owner of the house. The son ended up loosing the house in foreclosure and bank is the new owner. They have tried to evict her and she wants to challenge it, as she had a long term lease with her son, the previous owner. My understanding is that President passed a new law to protect renters lease rights. But, her house was foreclosed in Jan, 2009 and law was passed in May, 09. Is this a retroactive law? If not, what are her options to stay in the property, as bank has made it clear that they do not intend to rent the property, which is why they are pursuing eviction. Thanks for any guidance and help.
