Lifetime Lease
A few years ago my mother signed a quit claim for property in Florida to me & wife. After that she worried that I would sell it so to calm her we typed out and signed a ”lifetime lease” that stated she had a place to stay as long as she was alive. She is now 85 and not in good health and I feel she needs to be back in Indiana where her doctors are close by. She does not pay anything towards the place in Florida but states that ”piece of paper” gives her legal rights to the property. What are my rights and other than keeping my mother ”calm”, does she have any claim to this property?

  1. Re: Lifetime Lease
If the lease was properly executed,
she has a lifetime lease. You could sell, but the new owner would have her as a free tenant.
